Ukraine marks Constitution Day

On June 28, Ukraine celebrates the Constitution Day. The Constitution of Ukraine is the fundamental law of the country.

The Constitution was adopted and ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on June 28, 1996. It was adopted with 315 votes out of 450 possible.

All other laws and other normative legal acts of Ukraine must conform to the constitution. The right to amend the constitution through a special legislative procedure is vested exclusively in the parliament.

The Constitution of Ukraine consists of 15 chapters and 161 articles. It defines the basic principles of the state system and guarantees citizens equal rights and freedoms.

President Zelensky congratulated Ukrainians on the Constitution Day.
