The former president of Ukraine and leader of the ‘European Solidarity’ party Petro Poroshenko was invited to the Republican National Convention of the USA.

The politician sent the needed documents to get the permission of the Ukrainian authorities a month ago, but they have not been signed yet.

As a member of the Honorary Council of the International Democratic Union, Poroshenko was invited to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July, where the candidate for the presidential election in November will be approved.

Poroshenko emphasized that participation in this event is an opportunity to introduce the Ukrainian agenda to the Republican Party.

‘It is extremely important that the program of the Republican Party should include Ukrainian theses. For this, everyone who has influence, who has an invitation, needs to work. All must join forces to secure and guarantee the bipartisan support of the United States,’ the former president stated.

He added that such a practice of not allowing the opposition representatives to go abroad hinders Ukraine’s movement to Europe.
