On Wednesday, a Russian-controlled Donetsk court  handed down harsh verdicts to nine Ukrainian soldiers from the 36th Separate Marine Brigade.

These soldiers, including Andriy Shestak, Nazarij Moroz, and others, had been defending Mariupol and the Azovstal steel plant, before they were captured by Russian forces.

The Ukrainian POWs faced charges over what Russian officials called an attack on Stary Krym.  The Ukrainian POWS sentences are really harsh, ranging from 24 years to life imprisonment.
