Russian forces have used its 1.5-ton bomb for the first time in the Kupiansk region,  according to the Kharkiv governor Oleg Synegubov.

The attack took place in the early hours of July 25. It  targeted the key rairoad hub Kupiansk-Vuzlovy.  The blast left a 52-year old man wounded.

Known as FAB-1500, these glide bombs have a range of 50-60 kilometers posing a much bigger threat that FAB-250 or FAB-500 bombs Russia has routinely used in its attacks in the Kharkiv regions.

Deployed by  Su-34 aircraft from the Russian territory, they are almost immune to air defenses.

Synegubov belives Russia could soon start use them in Kharkiv, whihc is seen as dangerous escalation.
