A transport ship has reportedly sunk in “Kavkaz” port in Kuban, Russia,  following a strike by Ukraine, with 15 crew members initially believed to be missing.

“Due to the damage sustained, the ferry sank in the waters of Port ‘Kavkaz.’ There are no fires within the port area itself,” reported the Kuban Regional Operational Headquarters.

The ship carrying 30 fuel tanks on its deck was soon identified as “Conro Trader”.

The Telegram channel “Crimean Wind” revealed the video showing the ship engulfed in flames moments after it was struck. The exact number of casualties is still being unknown.

Update

Russian Telegram channels claim that around 4:30 pm, an “explosion” occurred on the “Conro Trader” ferry, as images of the ship in flames started to circulate on social media. The incident led to the closure of the Kerch Bridge.

The Russian emergency service soon confirmed that a railway ferry carrying fuel tanks was attacked in the Port of “Kavkaz.”

“Emergency and specialized services are working at the scene, and the area of the fire and information about casualties are being clarified,” according to the statement.

Several Russian propaganda Telegram channels ague that the strike was carried out by a Ukrainian Neptune or Storm Shadow anti-ship missile.
