Investigation identifies men who helped MP facing assault charges flee from Ukraine

On Monday, the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) said it has identified and charged three individuals involved in the plot that helped the Ukrainian lawmaker facing assault charges sneak out of the country into Moldova’s Transnistria.
According to the investigation, on August 23, the lawmaker who many allege to be Artem Dmytruk illegally crossed the state border at he “Pavlivka” checkpoint overseen by Velyka Komarivka border service unit.
The operation saw the MP leave Kyiv in a car around 1:00 pm . He traveled to Odesa as a car passenger. The surveillance footage obtained from Kyiv-Odesa road service as well as interviews with the driver, showed that the lawmaker hopped into another car that drove him to the village in Rozdilna district, Odesa region. At 9 pm, Dmytruk crossed the state border into Moldova on foot.
Investigators have now identified all individuals involved in plotting the MP’s “escape,” including those on the Moldovan side. The alleged accomplices had been earlier involved the illegal smuggling of people across Ukraine’s border.
The man behind the operation whose name was not revealed used his “extensive connections within both law enforcement and criminal circles” which helped the lawmaker sneak out of the country. All of the escape plotters have fled to Moldova along with Dmytruk.
