2 dead, 5 injured after Russian missile hits a hotel in Kryvyi Rih

A Russian missile strike late on August 26 targeted a hotel in Kryvyi Rih, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuring five others, according to local authorities.

Oleksander Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih military administration, confirmed that the strike killed one man and one woman while two more persons  have been hospitalized.

Emergency servicesaid its teams rushed to the site immediately. “Our rescuers extracted a 43-year-old woman from the rubble around 5 a.m.,” Vilkul said. “She is in critical condition, and doctors are fighting to save her life. In total, five people were rescued during the operation. Psychological assistance has been provided to 11 individuals, including two children.”

Rescue operations are ongoing.  Emergency workers are also assessing the  damage to nearby buildings. First reports show that the blast damaged four apartment buildings, six shops, and eight vehicles. The full extent of the damage is still being determined.

An emergency response center has been established close to the site to distribute building materials and accept applications for financial aid. Applications can also be made at the Metallurgical Executive Committee located at 42 Mira Avenue.

Meanwhile, an emergency trolleybus repair crew worked through the night, restoring trolleybus services by morning. There have been no further reports of shelling in the Kryvyi Rih district.
