Intense fighting unfolding at Pokovsk and Toretsk- General Staff update

Ukrainian officials report that Russian forces have launched 79 attacks on Ukrainian defensive positions as of 4:00 pm on Friday. The most intense activity is concentrated in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove areas, which account for a third of assaults reported over the day.

In the Kharkiv area, Russian troops have launched four attacks on Ukrainian positions near Hlyboke, Starytsia, and Vovchansk. Three of these engagements are ongoing.

The Kupiansk area has dealt with nine attacks, with Ukrainian defenders thwarting assaults near Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Synkivka, and Stelmakhivka. Two of these combat engagements continue. The enemy has also utilized aircraft, dropping ten guided bombs on the regions around Novosynove, Bohuslavka, and Kruhliakivka.

In the Lyman area, Russian forces persist in their attacks on Ukrainian positions near Druzheliubivka, Novosadove, Nevske, Torske, and Terny. Ukrainian troops have repelled eight attacks in this area since the start of the day, with fighting still ongoing near Terny.

The Siversk area has seen seven attacks by Russian forces targeting areas near Verkhnokamianske, Vyimka, Bilohorivka, and Spirne. All these attacks have been repelled by Ukrainian forces.

On the Kramatorsk front, four assaults have been reported near Ivanivske and Kalynivka, with two clashes still ongoing near Kalynivka.

In the Toretsk area, five attacks have occurred near Nelipivka and Toretsk. Ukrainian forces have repelled three of these attacks, with two ongoing. Additionally, the enemy has targeted the village of Druzhba with unguided aerial rockets.

The most intense fighting is taking place in the Pokrovsk area, where Russian forces have launched 20 attacks on Ukrainian positions in Vozdvyzhenska, Kalynove, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Ptyche, and Zelenopillya. Ukrainian defenders have repelled 11 of these attacks, with nine still ongoing.

In the Kurakhove area, 15 enemy attacks have been reported, with fighting continuing near Kostyantynivka, Heorhiivka, Krasnohorivka, and Karlivka. The battles are ongoing in five locations.

In the Vremivka area, seven assaults have been reported against Ukrainian positions. Three attacks near Vuhledar, Vodiane, and Kostyantynivka have been repelled, with fighting continuing near Vodiane.

While other areas have not seen active assaults recently, Russian forces continue to use its bombers and assault aircraft, as well as artillery and multiple rocket launch systems to target Ukrainian positions and civilian areas.

On October 6, the Administrative Cassation Court within the Supreme Court of Ukraine continued hearing case No. 990/80/25, in which the fifth President and leader of the party “European Solidarity”, Petro Poroshenko, seeks to have Presidential Decree No. 81/2025 from February 12, 2025 — enacting sanctions by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) — declared illegal and annulled. The plaintiff claims the document was falsified and that the sanctions are a tool of political persecution of the opposition, contrary to international norms. Government representatives deny the allegations and insist their actions were lawful. Journalists of Bukvy were present at the hearing.
