Russian Telegram channels are abuzz with reports of a significant border breach and intense clashes in the Kursk region. The news, which broke early this morning, includes details of shelling in the towns of Sudzha and Zaolshchenko.

Initial reports indicate that at least 11 people were injured, including five children, due to the shelling.

Acting Kursk Governor Alexei Smirnov claimed that Ukrainian forces attempted a border breach but were repelled by Russian FSB and military units.

Smirnov came up with a vague warning that  urged residents to stay alert,  ‘I want to warn you that in the coming hours, many different informational provocations will appear. Please trust only official sources of information and don’t fall for the actions of provocateurs.’

Despite these assurances, many pro-Russian Telegram channels suggest that Ukrainian forces have indeed breached the border and are advancing into the region.

One channel, Astra, has reported Ukrainian units moving through the Sudzhansky district with armored vehicles.

“The combat engagement is ongoing. According to sources, the enemy has managed to introduce several units of armored vehicles onto Russian territory, with battles raging on in the direction of Kurilovka and Goncharovka. The town of Sudzha is now under fire”, added the channel.

The situation remains fluid with conflicting reports continuing to emerge.
