In Germany, 17-year-old Volodymyr Yermakov, a Ukrainian basketball player who played for the youth national team, was killed.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has already taken the investigation of this case under special control.

The tragedy happened in the city of Dusseldorf. A group of unknown persons attacked Volodymyr Yermakov and his friend Artem Kozachenko.

‘On the eve of the match, young basketball players were attacked with knives on the street simply because they are Ukrainians. The whole team spent the night in the hospital next to our boys. Unfortunately, doctors could not save Yermakov, and Kozachenko remains in intensive care,’ the statement says.

According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko, the Consulate General in Dusseldorf has already held negotiations with the police chief and consuls emphasized the need to conduct an investigation and bring criminals to justice.
