Ukraine and Sweden will deepen cooperation in the nuclear industry in order to strengthen the energy security of the whole of Europe.

The issue was discussed during a meeting of Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko and Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden Ebba Busch in Kyiv.

Herman Halushchenko emphasized that cooperation in the nuclear industry between the countries is a priority.

‘We managed to show other countries that the future of the nuclear industry is possible without Russia: Ukrainian specialists of Energoatom worked together with the specialists of the Westinghouse plant in Sweden to create a technology that allows using Western-made fuel in Soviet reactors,’ Ukraine’s minister stated.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of deepening cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden in order to further displace Russia from the market of nuclear fuel and atomic technologies in Europe.

The importance of the development of nuclear energy in Ukraine for strengthening the stability of the energy system was also noted.
