The Kyiv Sofia National Reserve became a full member of the Europa Nostra organization, which takes care of cultural and natural heritage in Europe.

The organization includes hundreds of member and associate organizations and dedicated individuals from across Europe and beyond.

Ukraine’s culture ministry noted that such an event has a special and symbolic meaning when the organization celebrates its 60th anniversary, and 2023 was the year of consolidation and further expansion of the organization’s activities for the benefit of Europe’s common heritage.

The devastating consequences of Russia’s aggressive war in Ukraine, particularly regarding cultural heritage, continue to require adequate efforts.

So far, the organization has raised over €150,000 in support of cultural heritage in Ukraine through a joint solidarity campaign.

In addition, Europa Nostra, together with a team of European partners and member organizations, launched the European Heritage Hub project in May.
