The Ukrainian mass media spread the information about the suspension of consular services from April 23. The suspension will continue until the law on mobilization is officially clarified.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, commented on these statements.

‘Protection of the rights and interests of the Ukrainian citizens abroad has always been and remains a priority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the same time, in the conditions of the full-scale Russian aggression, the main priority is the protection of the Homeland from destruction,’ Kuleba wrote.

He explained that the Ukrainian men who live abroad want services from the state but do not want to fulfil their duties.

‘It does not work like this. There is a war in our country,’ the minister said.

Men will still be able to get an identity document to return to Ukraine. Some institutions, such as the consulate of Ukraine in Poland, have already suspended the acceptance of documents from men until receiving instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Kuleba, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will soon publish detailed instructions on how men of conscription age can receive consular services at foreign diplomatic missions.
