Ukraine starts negotiations on security agreement with Luxembourg

On May 14, Ukraine and Luxembourg began bilateral negotiations on the conclusion of an agreement on cooperation in the field of security and long-term support.

During the conversation, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden agreed on the start of work on the document.

The Ukrainian side thanked Luxembourg for its constant support and leadership, particularly in such matters as co-chairing the IT coalition, military aid, and supporting Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO.

The parties thoroughly processed the text of the draft agreement, discussed the content of individual provisions and agreed on further steps.

On July 12, at the NATO summit in Vilnius, the G7 countries agreed on a joint declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine. The G7 leaders noted that other countries wishing to contribute to these efforts aimed at ensuring a free, strong, independent and sovereign Ukraine can join this Declaration at any time.
