Former Deputy Prosecutor General found stashing away $800K in unexplained assets

Ukraine’s National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NAZK) said it has tracked down the unexplained assets worth 29 million hryvnas ($800,000) linked to a former Deputy Prosecutor General the report failed to identify.
According to NAZK, the former officials has the ‘luxury assets acquired without legitimate financial sources’. The list includes the park of Lexus and Porsche cars, real estate in Kyiv and Odesa, as well as an apartment in Antalya, Turkey, as well as undeclared 2 million hryvnas in cash and Tether cryptocurrency.
The case has been forwarded to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine for a pre-trial investigation.
This scandal comes on the heels of Deputy Prosecutor General Dmytro Verbytskyi’s suspension last month after a Radio Liberty “Schemes” report shed a light on Verbytskyi’s lavish lifestyle and unaccounted assets.
