In his comments for Ukraine’s Telemarathon, Andriy Demchenko,  Border Guard Service spokesperson, said these numbers are increasing, as Ukrainian men eager to pay hefty sums ranging from $3,000 to $20,000 to sneak out of the country.

“We can see bold  attempts of criminal groups  transporting groups of people to the country’s border—it can be 10 people, or 20, or 30. We have recently stopped a group of 47 individuals, which is a record,” added Demchenko .

When caught, many of the border violators reveal they pay up to $18,000 -$20,000 to the guides promising to get them across the border.
