Ukrainian troops had to  pull back from the town district known as “Kanal” in besieged Chasiv Yar, Donetsk.

According to Nazar Voloshyn,  Khortysya Operational Command spokesperson,  the move was forced as the Russian bombardment destroyed the Ukrainian defensive positions ‘endangering’ the soldiers’ lives.

“Our positions were heavily damaged. Commanders decided to withdraw to stronger and better-prepared positions,” stressed Voloshyn adding the Russian army units have allegedly a deadline for Chasiv Yar’s capture that makes them intensify the offensive.

‘They have  been trying to take Chasiv Yar for months now without success. What they try is to raise their tricolor flag there.”

Ukrainian forces reportedly tried to counterattack at “Kanal” town district in late June.
