Regional power companies have scheduled two-line power outages lasting  from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM for July 5, said Ukrenergo in its update. Starting 3:00 PM,  the regions will switch to three-line power outages, whihc  will impact half of the consumers.

As Ukraine’s power grid remains unstable after Russian disruptive attacks, the grip operator had to implement longer rolling blackouts across the country to balance the power shortages.

“A line is a category of household consumers and businesses that consume a certain amount of megawatts. Ukrenergo dispatch center  determines how many lines to implement across all the regions simultaneously to compensate power shortages of the grid. Regional power companies  then decide on when and for how long each ‘line’ of consumers will face a power cut,” said Ukrenergo in its statement.

Some communites in the Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kherson regions remain without power due to ongoing figthing, another factor is a recent heat wave that puts a strain on the grid equipment and power lines.
