The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said on Tuesday it will use the “ammunition stockpiles of various calibers’ slated for disposal before Russia’s aggression in 2014. These munitions have been returned to the ammo dumps for quality check and now are now being used on  the front lines.

The “recovered ammunition” includes:

  • Artillery shells
  • Small arms ammunition
  • Component parts
  • Fuzes

Deputy defense minister Yuriy Dzhyhyr said the Ukrainian army is looking fo the “internal reserves” to supply Ukrainian soldiers with ammunition.

“We understand that today, every shot, missile, and bullet is vitally necessary on the battlefield. Instead of disposing of ammunition, we ‘dispose’ of the enemy with it. We are giving this ammunition a second life by attempting to restore everything that can be repaired and reused. Everyone is working to ensure the front is supplied,’ added the official.
