Ukrenergo is planning to implement rolling blackouts across the country on Tuesday, according to a statement from the grid power operator on Telegram.
Controlled power outages will rotate from 2 pm to 12 am following a 3-level system, switching to a 2-level system of shutdowns.
Earlier this month, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister Mykola Kolisnyk mentioned that Kyiv may need to turn to energy suppliers in Europe and increase power imports to 2.2 GW to alleviate the energy deficit in the system.
In June, Ukraine imported 858,300 MWh of electricity, marking a 91% increase compared to May, according to monitoring data from ExPro Electricity.
On July 3, Ukrenergo advisor Yuriy Boyko suggested that the country could ease energy restrictions by late July.”
