In a bid to tighten draft regulations and prevent evasion, the Ukrainian government has rolled out new rules. Effective immediately, all men aged 18-60 now must carry military documents when visiting border areas. This requirement is in place for the periods of mobilization and martial law.

Taras Melnychuk, the Ukrainian goverment representative in the Verkhovna Rada, confirmed that these changes are part of the law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Military Service, Mobilization, and Military Registration.”

Documents can be presented in either paper or electronic form. This measure aims to bolster border security and curb attempts to evade military service by fleeing to border regions.
