Ukrainian officials claim that a fire that broke out at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant on Sunday was allegedly caused by “careless actions” or a “deliberate act of arson” by Russian troops.

Moscow earlier blamed Ukraine for what the call a ‘drone attack’ on the plant cooling towers though latest officials didn’t back up the claims as there were no breaches in safety regulations, and radiation levels remained within normal limits.

Ukraine’s nuclear operator, Energoatom,  raised the alarm over the accident, adding the threat is still there as Russian troops use the nuclear site as a storage place for military equipment, weapons, and ammunition, which including in the plant’s machine rooms.  Ukrainian officials also complained about the “degradation of systems at the plant, which can see overall safety situation at the site worse.
