On Monday, Ukraine’s Security Service has issued an alert over possible Russian attempts to stage a smear campaign aiming to accuse Ukrainian troops of war crimes in the Kursk region. According to the SBU, Russian intelligence agencies are now spreading various fake reports and disinformation to “undermine Ukrainian credibility”.

Ukraine’s intelligence argues that planned fabrications that are completely ‘out of touch’ with reality and are used to divert attention from Russia’s failure at countering Ukrainian offensives in the Kursk region.

Such ‘tactics’ will not impact Ukrainian military operations or the perception of Ukraine among international partners as its troops show their “adherence to the laws and customs of warfare, including the treatment of prisoners of war and civilians”,  said the SBU in its statement, adding such attempts will not stand in the way of “Ukraine’s victory”.
