On August 14, Ukrainian military counterintelligence said its troops destroyed a Russian “Kasta” radar station in the Zaporizhzhia region. With the estimated cost of $60 million, it was a critical component of the Russian air defense system, monitoring the airspace in the region.

To avoid detection, the “Kasta-2E2” radar station had used different hiding spots and moved a lot, it didn’t help as  Ukrainian counterintelligence ultimately tracked it and pinpointed the strike destroying it.

It is worth noting that the equipment used for its detection had been purchased through donations made to the “Povernys Zhyvym” Foundation by ordinary Ukrainians.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian security service units have destroyed 166 Russian air defense systems and 446 electronic warfare and intelligence assets along the frontline.
