Frontline situation: 166 clashes reported in the last 24 hours

The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported 166 combat engagements across the entire frontline over the past 24 hours, with more than a third occurring in the Pokrovske direction, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces launched 11 attacks near the communities of Lyptsi and Vovchansk, conducting both offensive and assault operations.
The Kupiansk sector witnessed 15 clashes. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled enemy attacks near Petropavlivka, Berestove, Stelmakhivka, Synkivka, and Stepova Novoselivka.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops successfully countered 18 attacks in the areas of Makiivka, Novosadove, Hrekivka, and Dibrova.
Five assaults were thwarted in the Siversk sector near Vyimka and Pereizne.
Ukrainian soldiers held off eight enemy advances in the Kramatorsk direction, particularly near Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, and Ivanivske. The situation remains under control.
Backed by bomber and assault aircraft, Russian forces attempted 24 times to push forward in the Toretsk sector, targeting the areas of New York, Nelipivka, Toretsk, and Zalizne.
The Pokrovske sector saw the heaviest fighting, with Ukrainian defenders repelling 66 attacks. The enemy is attempting to advance toward Vozydvizhivka, Mykhailivka, Kalynivka, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Ptyche, Sknuchne, and Zelenyi Pol.
In the Kurakhove sector, the Ukrainian troops continue to hold back Russian forces in the areas of Kostyantynivka, Krasnohorivka, and Karlivka, where the enemy attempted to breach Ukrainian defensive lines ten times.
Two attempts to seize Ukrainian positions near Vodyane in the Donetsk region were reported in the Vremivka sector.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russian units twice attempted to push toward Novodanilivka and near Mala Tokmachka, both attempts failed.
Increased activity was reported in the Prydniprovske sector, where Ukrainian defenders repelled five assaults on their positions.
The situation in the Volyn and Polissia sectors remains stable, with no signs of enemy offensive group formations. However, the enemy maintains a military presence and conducts reconnaissance activities along the Chernihiv region border.
Ukrainian troops continue their operations in the Kursk direction.

On October 6, the Administrative Cassation Court within the Supreme Court of Ukraine continued hearing case No. 990/80/25, in which the fifth President and leader of the party “European Solidarity”, Petro Poroshenko, seeks to have Presidential Decree No. 81/2025 from February 12, 2025 — enacting sanctions by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) — declared illegal and annulled. The plaintiff claims the document was falsified and that the sanctions are a tool of political persecution of the opposition, contrary to international norms. Rinat Akhmetov’s Metinvest Group has completed the construction of an upgraded underground NATO Role 2 hospital in one of the hottest sectors of the frontline. This is the second stabilization point established under the Steel Front initiative in cooperation with the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The new facility, funded by Metinvest with an investment of UAH 21 million, is more secure than the first one thanks to its deeper location underground (over 6 meters) and additional fortifications.
