With Russian troops advancing in Porkovsk area, the situation in Mirnograd is dire. Authorities had to close off two districts  known as “5/6” and “Western”, which left their residents without electricity, though other parts of the city still have water and power.

Local officials, police, and emergency services are working hard to evacuate families with children, organizing safe convoys for their transport. Some residents in the “Innovator” district are “reluctant to leave” seeking refuge in basements.

Deputy head of Mirnograd city administration Tetiana Sytnyk said on Frida that there are still 493 children in the city. Over the last few days, around 50 families along with some 120 children, are being evacuated daily. Some families are repotedly hiding their children to avoid evacuation, but authorities have to seek actively seeking them out and arranging safe transportation to evacuation points in Pokrovsk.

As the situation is worsening, the city  has already shut down its administrative center, pension fund offices, and banks. Starting August 26, grocery stores will also cease operations.
