Ukrainian troops to receive new ration packs with vegan, kosher, and halal options

The Ukrainian army is set to revamp the military ration packs to accommodate religious, medical, and ethical needs, with new options set to be introduced from December 2024. The updated rations will include vegan, kosher, and halal selections, said the ministry in its statement on Wednesday.

The Ministry sought the thoughts on the menu update from several churches including the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, as well as Islamic and Jewish communities. They have also collaborated with animal protection organizations such as “Every Animal” and UAnimals, alongside market representatives. These stakeholders will provide feedback and suggestions to the Ministry’s relevant department.

“This is not just about nutrition but also about respecting the beliefs of every soldier,” the Ministry added.
