Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant reconnected to Ukraine’s power grid – Energoatom

On September 5, Ukraine has restored energy supply to Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant after its teams repaired one of the two damaged power line that connect the site to Ukraine’s power grid.
The second line was damaged on September 2, 2024 when Russian shelling hit the two external overhead power lines. Its repairs were delayed for several days due to shelling of the area.
Back then, it made Energoatom, Ukraine’s energy operator, warn that the nuclear site could be cut off from extermal power supply which is critical for operating the pumps that cool the reactor cores and spent fuel pools.
Meanwhile, Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), headed to Zaporizhzhya on Thursday to inspect the nuclear site.
