In the early hours of September 10, Russian forces launched a wave of drone attacks targeting the Cherkasy region in central Ukraine. The barrage caused injuries and significant damage to infrastructure, local authorities have reported.

According to Cherkasy governor Ihor Taburets, Ukrainian air defences intercepted 14 drones, though several managed to hit their targets. In the regional capital, Cherkasy, two civilians were injured. Both have since received medical treatment. A number of buildings, including private businesses, sustained damage, and dry grass caught fire as a result of the strikes.

Further damage was reported in Uman, where a drone hit an infrastructure facility. Meanwhile, debris from the downed drones caused a fire in a forested area in the Cherkasy district. It was swiftly contained by emergency services.

The emergency teams were assessing  the damage, while law enforcement agencies have begun documenting the attacks as evidence of Russia’s war crime, said the governor.
