20 Russian drones intercepted in overnight attack

In the early hours of September 11, Russian forces launched a series of missile and drone attacks across Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. The majority of the incoming targets were intercepted by Ukrainian defense systems.

A total of 34 aerial targets were launched by Russian forces overnight, including:

  • 1 Iskander-M ballistic missile fired from Russia’s Krasnodar region,
  • 2 S-300 surface-to-air missiles launched from occupied Donetsk,
  • 6 Kh-31P anti-radar missiles launched from the Black Sea towards Snake Island,
  • 25 Shahed attack drones from Kursk and Yeisk (Russia) and occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 20 of the drones, while 5 targets were lost from radar over Ukrainian territory. The “Shahed” drones were intercepted in Kyiv, Kherson, Cherkasy, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Poltava

To foil the attack, Ukraine’s air defenses used aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units.
