157 combat clashes reported over past 24 hours – General Staff update

On September 16, 157 combat clashes took place across the frontlines in the last24 hours, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.  Russian forces carried out 84 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and civilian areas, deploying 127 guided aerial bombs. There were also 4,030 shelling incidents, including 135 times when Russian troops used multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

In response, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck eight Russian positions, targeting concentrations of personnel, military equipment, two radar stations, and two other key enemy assets.

Key Frontline Developments:

• Kharkiv sector: Ukrainian defenders engaged in two combat clashes near Vovchansk.
• Kupiansk sector: Russian forces launched 11 assaults throughout the day, with intense fighting near Novoosynove, Synkivka, and Lozova.
• Lyman sector: Ukrainian troops repelled 21 assaults in areas near Hrekivka, Druzhelubivka, Makiivka, Nevske, Novosadove, Bilohorivka, and the Serebriansky Forest.
• Siversk sector: Ukrainian forces successfully defended against three attacks near Ivano-Darivka and Pereizne.
• Kramatorsk sector: Russian troops attacked six times near Vasiukivka and Chasiv Yar.
• Toretsk sector: Supported by aviation, Russian forces launched 19 assaults near Nelipivka, Druzhba, Toretsk, and Zalizne.
• Pokrovsk sector: Ukrainian defenders foiled 40 Russian attacks, with the heaviest fighting reported near Vozdvyzhenka, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, Marynivka, and Krasnyi Yar. The most intense clashes occurred near Hrodivka and Novohrodivka.
• Kurakhove sector: Ukrainian forces repelled 42 attacks around Ukrainka, Tsukuryno, Zhelanne Pervoye, Heorhiivka, Kostyantynivka, and Katerynivka.
• Vremivka sector: Ukrainian troops faced seven attacks near Vuhledar, Katerynivka, Vodiane, and Kostyantynivka.
• Orikhiv sector: Russian forces launched an assault on Ukrainian positions near Robotyne.
• Prydniprovske sector: The enemy conducted five unsuccessful assaults.
• Volyn and Polissia sectors: No signs of Russian offensive group formations were observed.
• Chernihiv and Sumy Border: Russian forces continued to target Ukrainian communities with artillery and airstrikes.
