Northern areas of the Donetsk region will be without water supply for an “indefinite period” after Russian shelling  damaged two key facilities of “Voda Donbasu” water company, according to Donetsk regional governor Vadym Filashkin.

He said the damage is so severe and the company appears to have “no technical capacity to restore the equipment”.

It makes the situation dire for the communities of s Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka that are home to around 260,000 people.

The regional military administration is looking for ways to come up with “alternative” water sources, while technical water is still available as it comes from a river intake managed by the “Voda Donbasu” water company.
