The Czechoslovak Group (CSG) said on Friday it has signed an agreement with the Ukrainian firm Ukrainian Armored Vehicles” to jointly produce 155mm artillery shells in Ukraine.
On October 2, the company secured a series of significant contracts with Ukrainian Armored Vehicles during the International Defense Industry Forum in Kyiv. The local production of these 155mm shells is slated to start next year.
Under the agreement, CSG will provide its Ukrainian partner with the necessary technology and support to set up shop in Ukraine making artillery shells.
The partnership is projected to churn out 100,000 shells in 2025, with output increasing to 300,000 shells in 2026. The production of large-caliber artillery and tank shells will be organized in both Ukraine and the Czech Republic to speed up production, increase volume, and reduce the cost of the ammunition.
The Czech company worked with Ukraine before the full-scale war, supplying self-propelled howitzers and infantry fighting vehicles to Ukrainian forces in 2018. Since 2022, CSG has ramped up its deliveries, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), self-propelled artillery units (SPGs), and air defense systems.
