Holos party to be stripped of state funding over misreporting- court ruling
Source: NACP
The Ukrainian political party “Holos” has officially lost its state funding on Friday after the Supreme Court upheld on a decision by the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NACP) to strip it the party of the state funding for thisthe current parliamentary term.
The legal dispute saw NACP demand to pull a plug on financial support for the party over “inaccuracies in financial reports” that amounted to some 5 million hryvnias. Under Ukrainian law, any political party found misreporting on this subject faces suspension of state funding.
The Supreme Court verdict has dashed the hopes of Holos party of spending over 57 million hryvnias they were due to receive by the end of 2024.
The misreporting story dates back to June 26, when the NACP identified “significant violations” in the financial reports of “Holos” for the third and fourth quarters of 2020. The inaccuracies in their financial reports, totaling 4.7 million hryvnias, saw the party ending up empty-handed as it is the requirment of Ukraine’s Law on Political Parties.
