Russian troops intensify attacks at Kurakhove – frontline update

As of 4 pm Wednesday,  97 combat engagements have taken place along the frontlines, according to to the update from Ukraine’s General Staff.  Kurakhove remains the flashpoint as half of the attacks were recorded here.

Russian forces continue to pound the Sumy and Chernihiv regions along the border using both artillery and airstrikes. Shells are battering towns like Pokrovka and Karpovychi, while airstrikes target areas near Budivelne.

Russian aircraft launched seven attacks on the Kursk region, dropping nine guided bombs, but Ukrainian forces remain in control across several key areas.

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian troops attempted four assaults on Ukrainian positions around Starytsia. The Ukrainian defenders held their ground. Meanwhile, seven enemy attacks unfolded in the Kupiansk area, targeting areas near Kucheriivka, Pishchane, Stepova Novoselivka, Lozova, and Vyshneve. Ukrainian forces repelled two attacks, with five battles still ongoing.

On the Lyman front, Russian forces pushed hard in the areas of Hrekivka, Nevske, Terny, and Torske. Ten clashes have already erupted there, with fierce fighting still raging near Hrekivka.

In the Kramatorsk area, Ukrainian troops thwarted an enemy assault near Stupochky. Russian aircraft retaliated with airstrikes on Chasiv Yar using unguided rockets.

The Toretsk sector also saw intense action, with Russian airstrikes hammering Toretsk and Katerynivka. Meanwhile, the enemy unleashed rocket attacks on Druzhba.

Further south in the Pokrovsk region, Russian forces made eight attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses near Promin and Selydove. Ukrainian defenders held strong, repelling five of those assaults, with three clashes still in progress.

But the fiercest battleground today is the Kurakhove area. Russian forces launched 42 assaults, trying to push through near Zoriane, Zhelanne Druhe, Izmailivka, Novodmytrivka, Hirnyk, Novoselidivka, Heorhiivka, and Katerynivka. Ukrainian troops have already pushed back 16 of these attacks, with more battles still raging.

Over in the Vremivka sector, Ukrainian forces repelled another Russian offensive. Clashes are ongoing near Zolota Nyva, while Russian rockets targeted Novodarivka.

Fighting is also raging in the Orikhiv area, specifically near Mala Tokmachka. And on the Prydniprovsk front, Ukrainian units beat back three Russian assaults.
