Ukraine’s Security Service said they have arrested four men in Donetsk region who spied on Ukrainian troops to help the enemy troops pinpoint strikes of their precision-guided bombs. All four men are local residents from communities in Donetsk. Acting independently, each of them carried out  specific assignments from Russian handlers—some of them were motivated by pro-Russian views, while others looked for quick money through Telegram channels, which ultimately saw them agree to become spies.

Under orders from Russian intelligence, these agents scouted and shared coordinates of Ukrainian defensive positions in the Lyman, Kramatorsk, and Sloviansk areas. Two detainees, from Lyman and Sloviansk, spied on Ukrainian artillery positions controlling enemy assault groups, gathering intelligence for Russia’s FSB.

The third detainee, a Kramatorsk resident, agreed to become an FSB agent to coordinate Russian airstrikes on military hospitals treating wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

The fourth suspect worked with Russia’s GRU, pinpointing bridge locations used to transport Ukrainian armored vehicles to the eastern front.

All four of the suspects are to stand trial over espionage and treason charges.

They remain in custody and face potential life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
