Russian spy caught in Sumy after drone strike he pinpointed kills three people

Ukraine’s Security Service arrested a 23-year-old local in Sumy after he was found providing Russian intellligence the information that helped them pinpoint their drone strike on the city. Carried out by a kamikaze drone on October 22, it left three civilians dead, including a child.
According to SBU reports, the Sumy resident scouted defense positions around the city, quietly filming military sites. The intelligence he gathered wasn’t just random info—he sent exact coordinates and detailed descriptions of potential targets via Telegram to Russia’s GRU. His messages included video footage and precise geotagged locations .
The SBU arrested him as he was spying aroun the city. Searches turned up a phone and laptop containing evidence of his ties to Russian intelligence.
Charged with treason under wartime conditions, he could face life in prison. The man was recruited by Russian intelligence after they discovered his pro-Russian posts on social media.
