Ukraine’s commander-in-chief meets with activists and military bloggers

Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, met with civic activists and volunteers helping the army. Among those in attendence were such prominent public figures as Ihor Lachenkov, Serhii Sternenko, Dignitas Foundation founder Liubov Shypovych, and “Principle” NGO co-founder Liubov Galan.

Syrskyi also invited  Vitalii Levchenko, head of the Military Law Enforcement Service, and Andrii Martynov, chief of Psychological Support for Armed Forces Personnel.

Sternenko spoke about the need for an efficient transfer process for servicemembers, evaluations of commanders to improve personnel safety, and structural matters within the military.

“Our priority is to be heard. We’re ready to continue addressing and publicizing the issues that concern both servicemembers and civilians,” added Lachenkov.

The meeting addressed urgent issues ranging from faster application of technological innovations in the military to “fostering public unity and support” for the Armed Forces. The General Staff represpentatives said such meetings provide “valuable opportunities for constructive dialogue” which could help iron out misundestandings that can  roil the Ukrainian public.
