Ukraine’s parliament grants servicemen a right to resign when half-siblings die in combat

On November 20, Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada passed a bill making it possible for members of Ukranian servicemen and servicewomen to resign if their half-siblings or step-relatives have been killed or gone missing in action during the war.

Authored by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, bill No. 11531, received the backing of 308 lawmakers.

In his post on social media, the lawmaker reminded that Ukraine’s parliament had eariler approved another of his initiatives that granted deferment to individuals whose half-siblings had died or gone missing at the front.

“Now, I’ve secured their right to resign!” Honcharenko wrote.
