Zelensky: Ukraine lacks strength to liberate occupied regions

Talking to Kyodo News on Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was candid admitting Kyiv now has no capabilities to reclaim the occupied regions by force.
“Our army lacks the strength for this. That’s the truth. We need to find diplomatic solutions,” Zelenskyy said, striking a more pragmatic tone as Russia is slowly making gains at the front lines.
He warned that the war has entered a “complicated period”.
The Ukrainian leader though remained defiant about Ukraine’s need to be ‘strong enough’ before going into talks with Russia. Otherwise, he warned, the Kremlin may seize the opportunity to launch renewed aggression against the country.
Zelenskyy reiterated that NATO membership is a vital thing for Ukraine because it can grant Ukraine’s long-term security and prevent any further destabilization.
