Christmas Day attack: Russia targets Ukrainian thermal power plants

Ukraine’s energy infrustucture sites have been attacked by massive Russian missile strikes in the morning of Christmas Day, with thermal power plants being the key target.
In its brief statement, DTEK, which owns the most of Ukrainian thermal power plants, said the attack has caused significant damage to the its equipment.
Rolling blackouts ensued minutes after the attack across several regions of the country.
“After the shelling ended, energy workers promptly began addressing the consequences and restoring equipment operations,” DTEK added.
