Russian launches over 70 missiles at Ukraine this morning – Zelensky

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the morning missile attack carried out by Russian forces on Christmas Day.

He said Russia used over 70 missiles, including ballistic ones, in the attack, with some 100 drones coming ahead of it to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defenses. The missiles targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“Each massive Russian strike requires preparation time. It is never a spontaneous decision. It is a deliberate choice of both targets and the time and date,” added Zelensky.

According to reports, the country’s air defense forces intercepted more than 50 missiles and most of the drones. However, some strikes hit their targets, causing power outages in several regions.
