Ukraine-NATO Council approves program of preparation to membership

On November 29, during the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, an annual program aimed at preparing Ukraine for membership in the Alliance was approved.

The statement was made by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels after the meeting.

He noted that this ambitious program includes energy security, innovation, and interoperability.

Jens Stoltenberg added that the transformation of NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package into a multi-year aid program is currently underway. It is designed to help Ukraine’s transition from Soviet times to NATO equipment and standards.

The Secretary General also said that discussions at the meeting included Ukraine’s path to NATO and the allies agreed that Ukraine would become a member of the Alliance.
