Ukraine’s Security Service has arrested a former Shostka City Council deputy in Sumy after he was caught spying for Russia’s FSB. The 48-year-old suspect, who was earlier an activist of a pro-Russian party, snooped on Ukrainian troops’ movements while his inflammatory posts on social media even called on Moscow to bomb the city of Sumy.
Recruited in July 2023, the suspect would drive around the area, covertly tracking the movements of Ukrainian military convoys and pinpointing troop locations near the Sumy border.
His correspondence with FSB operatives in Bryansk prove he wanted his hometown to be bombed.
A search of his property uncovered a mobile phone with evidence of his espionage. The SBU has charged him with high treason under Article 111 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code.

Notorious supporter of the concept “in order for a cow to eat less and give more milk, it needs to be fed less and milked more” “Servant of the People” Danylo Hetmantsev, under the guise of “business requirements”, registered a draft law on the collection of VAT on all foreign purchases, regardless of their value. In other words, every Ukrainian, buying goods of any value and purpose abroad, when sending them to Ukraine, will have to pay an additional fifth part, or 20% of the cost of the goods.
