48% of applicants eager to join army in Ternopil region are women – report

Ternopil region leads Ukraine in the share of women among applicants eager to join to Ukraine’s Defense Forces, with 48% of all candidates at local recruitment centers being female.

Following closely are Chernivtsi (44%) and Chernihiv (39%) regions. These three regions stand among other as  the national average for female applicants stands at 19% across all recruitment centers.

The Defense Ministry’s press service said that Ukrainian army recruitment centers offer over 10,000 positions across various military formations, including the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

They also stressed that recruitment office consultations are provided confidentially, with no draft notices issued on the spot.

Currently, Ukraine has 44 active recruitment centers across the country.
