The deputy head of the National Police Maksym Tsutskiridze said in an interview that so far the police have discovered 57 Russian torture rooms in the liberated territories.
The police also know about 31 torture chambers in the temporarily occupied territories.
‘As for torture chambers, 88 places of imprisonment have been recorded in the criminal proceedings,’ he said.
The police are documenting all facts of Russian war crimes and are establishing persons involved in them.
The deputy head also stated that it is now impossible to give the exact number of Ukrainians who have suffered Russian torture.
‘We are talking about 6,800 our missing citizens. These are Ukrainian civilians who may be in prisons of the Russian Federation or in other territories. It is possible that the occupiers took civilians for further use in exchange, perhaps as a live shield to cover themselves when retreating,’ he said.
