A Russian agent caught spying on Ukrainian troops in Vinnytsia

In Vinnytsia, Ukraine’s Security Service said they have arrested a Russian FSB agent who spied on deliveries of the military equipment to the frontlines.

The agent was caugh snooping on Ukrainian Armed Forces units moving along highways in the Vinnytsia and Cherkasy regions, which helped Russia monitor troop movements in real time and pinpoint their strikes on the Ukrainian military columns.

The detainee, a 51-year-old paramedic, had strong pro-Russian views he would articulate on Telegram channels. Following instructions from his FSB handlers, he used his car to travel along inter-regional highways, tracking the movement of Defense Force units.

One documented incident shows the agent tailing a military convoy for nearly 100 kilometers, trying to determine its route, as well as the types and number of vehicles in the column.

SBU counterintelligence operatives arrested him near his home on Thusday, seizing his mobilie phone that he had used for communication with his FSB handler, Donetsk-based blogger  Sergei Lebedev.

Based on the collected evidence, the SBU charged the suspect with treason under Article 111, Part 2, of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. The suspect is now in custody facing a possible life sentence with confiscation of property.
