All missiles targeting Kyiv shot down by air defense forces – Ukraine’s Air Force

According to the Ukrainian Air Force,  its air defense units foiled the massive missile atack on Ukraine’s capital:

“As a result of air defense operations, all five ballistic missiles aimed at Kyiv were shot down,” the Air Force confirmed.

Russia fired ballistic missiles, specifically Iskander-M/KN-23, the Voronezh and Bryansk regions.

Despite the successful interception, debris caused destruction and casualties across five districts of Kyiv.

The Air Force said the attack involved a ballistic Iskander-M missile launched from Rostov Oblast, guided Kh-59/69 missiles fired from Kursk Oblast, and 65 drones that came from Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

The strikes though caused significant damage to residential buildings, medical facilities, warehouses, and farms across several regions.Ukraine’s air defenses said they shot down 40 drones were shot down in multiple regions, including Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, while 20 more were lost in flight impacted by  electronic warfare systems

The Ukrainian defense effort involved aviation, air defense missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire teams from the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
