Two young men, aged 17 and 18, have been arrested in Lviv for setting fire to military vehicles. The youths had been recruited by Russian intelligence while seeking easy money through Russian Telegram channels.
An FSB officer promised them quick cash if they found and set fire to Ukrainian servicemen’s vehicles. The saboteurs were also required to film the burning vehicles, as Russian intelligence planned to use the footage to fabricate social media stories depicting an “anti-Ukrainian underground movement” in Lviv.
The arsonists were caught red-handed while attempting to burn another military vehicle.
Both suspects face charges under Article 114 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing, with the young men facing up to eight years in prison.
