Anastasia Ryabchuk, a Ukrainian canoeist took to social media on Wednesday to complain after  the Paris Olympics organizers made her remove the inscription “I am Ukrainian” from her canoe.

The International Canoe Federation had deemed the message as “propaganda”, arguing it violates the International Olympic Committee’s policy banning any war-related statements.

Ryabchuk begs to differ, “But the inscription ‘I am Ukrainian’ is different; it represents our belonging to Ukraine, which is important.”

She argued that the designs the canoe initially bore just symbolized her “pride about being Ukrainian’.

The athele who got sponsorship support from BVG Group is set to compete in two canoe events in Paris.
